Episteme’s research methodology stems from a systematic understanding of the territory, meaning that its functioning depends on the articulation and synergy of all its parts. This facilitates the identification of singular elements in the territorialization process and is sensitive to local dynamics, as well as intervention opportunities that might improve the capacities of local and foreign agents towards peace construction and intercultural development.
Our territorial studies are implemented through discourse analysis and documentary inspection, such as systematisation of information in timelines, facilitating the understanding of discursive transformations from the involved actors.
Reflexivity and participant observation are ethnographic elements that acknowledge local perception to describe and analyse symbolic representation systems constructed by the inhabitants of a territory. To make this possible, instruments like interviews, polls, focal groups, and social cartography are used. This enables the understanding of the territory from a communitarian logic, facilitating the formulation of relationship processes towards the transformation of conflicts, peace construction, and territorial development through synergy and the will of local institutional and corporate actors.
The study of territorial dynamics and the transformation of their elements from a bottom-up and systemic approach are the mechanisms that allow us confidence in constructing multi-actor and multi-capital initiatives, which transform the local context through the generation of ideas and projects responding to needs in human, relational, economic, environmental, intellectual, and industrial fields.
